The Sims 4 is a life simulation video game developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. The game is the fourth major title in the life simulation video game series. The Sims 4 was originally announced on May 6, 2013, and was released in North America on September 2, 2014. The Sims™ 4 is the fourth installment in the popular life simulation game series, The Sims. It is the latest version of the series and is the first title made under the new EA Maxis label.
The gameplay in The Sims™ 4 consists of two major components: Build Mode and Create A Sim. In Build Mode, players are able to build their own homes from scratch, or use one of the many premade houses. Create A Sim allows players to create their own Sims, determining things such as their gender, hair, makeup, and clothes.
The Sims 4 is a life simulation game where players create a Sim character and control their life to explore different personalities which change the way the game plays out. Players have the ability to choose different careers and lifestyles for their Sims, and can make choices that impact the game. There are five different life stages:
The gameplay consists of two modes: 'Live mode' and 'Build mode'. In 'Live mode', players control their Sims in real time, making choices such as talking, exercising, cooking, and cleaning. In 'Build mode', players can design their homes and surroundings in a 3D environment.

The game has new lighting effects, a new animation system that allows for more realistic movement, and new facial expressions that allow Sims to react to different situations in different ways. The Sims™ 4 is the first in the series to be rendered in full 3D, allowing players to fully explore their Sims' world.
